Canon EF-S 55-250mm Lens Review

Canon EF-S 55-250mm Lens Review

If you have a Canon SLR digital camera, you may not be entirely satisfied with the lens that comes with the camera. You will probably consider purchasing a separate lens that can be snapped on to bring far away items up close and personal. The Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens is designed to work with any SLR digital camera made by Canon and will give enhanced reach and focus so you never miss a kick on the soccer field or a throw on the football field.

This lens is considered suitable for the hobbyist and amateur photographer, so it isn't intended to deliver professional results. The trade off is the price, which is considerably less than you would pay for a 55-250mm Canon L series lens designed to deliver exceptional professional quality. If you are looking for a lens to capture images of everyday events with friends and family members or if you are practicing your digital photography skills but don't have a lot of money to invest in a lens at this time.

When used at the lower focal lengths, you can actually get amazing pictures that are clear and without noise. You can capture close-ups as well as scenery shots and portraits. Most users love that they can reach out to things far in the distance and pull them up in their lens as if they were just inches away. From sporting events to weddings and capturing nature photos on vacation, this lens is perfect for those moments when you see something out there but can't quite grab it with the lens built into your camera.

The problems for some users come when they try to use the lens over 200mm. Some find that the image clarity isn't as great at this longer focal length, while others have no problems with the lens at this range at all. It comes down to your experience with photography and what you are expecting. A professional may not be satisfied with this lens at 200mm and beyond, but those who aren't expecting professional quality will be quite pleased with the ability to function their cameras in that range.

One feature that all users love on this lens is the optical image stabilizer. If you are holding your camera and shooting something in the far distance, it is easy for the photo to pick up the slightest shake from your hands. The image stabilization in this lens ensures that the camera remains steady so you can capture better images when shooting at lower speeds. This automatic correction allows even hobbyists to take better pictures with the lens than they might get without it.

The lightweight design makes the Cannon EF-S 55-250mm lens easy to carry along in a camera case. It is just as easy to snap on and off of the camera, so you don't have to be a skilled professional to learn to use the lens. Just keep in mind that the lens gets its lighter weight from the plastic materials. A lens made with metal would be a lot more durable than the plastic used on this lens, so you have to keep that in mind and treat it with care. Most users have no problems with the lens tearing up when it is used with care.

Thunderbolt and MHL – 2 new cable types for 2012

Thunderbolt and MHL - 2 new cable types for 2012

With the rate technology evolves, it is no surprise that HDMI is already outdated for portable devices.

Two new connection technologies that will become mainstream in 2012 are Thunderbolt (also known as Mini DisplayPort) and Mobile High-Definition Link ( MHL ).

Thunderbolt is currently used on Apple notebooks (Macbook Pro) and Intel has announced most of their motherboards will also contain a Thunderbolt connector. Thunderbolt can provide Audio and Video in Full HD, as well as data and up to 6 devices can be daisy-chained together.

MHL is used in high end mobiles phones such as the Samsung Galaxy SII and HTC Sensation. This adapter allows the phone to output audio and video in Full 1080p HD to any HDMI display such as an LCD TV.
